Crazy Cat Lady

OK, I'm no longer allowed to go to PetSmart on a Saturday.  We really just went for catfood.  Honest.  But then, Matthew saw all the kitties up for adoption (from a no-kill shelter), and looked at me with those big, brown eyes of his (Just how did I get a brown-eyed red-head, anyways?), and I folded like a cheap table.

Her name is "Sparkles" (that's what happens when you let the 7 year old choose the name!).  It was the one the shelter had given her.  Believe me, I did my best to talk him into a different name.  She's very sweet, outgoing and playful, and is about the same age as Sitka (1 1/2 or thereabouts).  She is MATTHEW'S cat.  We're keeping her in his room while we're gone and at night.

Sitka's attitude towards the whole thing can best be summed up in this picture:

That is, when she's not letting me know how absolutely PISSED she is.  Who knew cats could growl?

This is positively the last one.  Honest.  From now on I buy my catfood at WalMart......

ahhhh yes, animal harmony!

She's cute! Love the dark, last ring on her tail.

Sitka lighten up yet? :-P

Well, the fact that Sitka let her up on my bed at all is a good sign (I hope). Didn't stop her from hissing and growling, though. I think this will take a while. Eric doesn't know yet, as M wants to surprise him when he gets home Friday.
