A New Question:

OK, lets start a new discussion:

I was watching something on TV the other day that talked about Noriega and how, when he was claiming sanctuary and holed up somewhere in Panama, the US military blasted '80s rock music until he couldn't take it anymore, and surrendered. Which brings me to the question:

If you were captured behind enemy lines, what song could they put on repeat that would make you "talk" giving up all state secrets?

I'll start things off with: "Muskrat Love" by Captain & Tenille

No limit on the number of times you respond. If its an unusual song, try to post a link, or at least give us a clue how it goes.

Who knows? There may be a prize for the best one!

Anything 'rap-ish' would loosen my tongue and I would give up my potato salad recipe in a heartbeat!

I will have to think on a real song however.

How about: "Thank God I'm a Country Boy!" by John Denver.

How about anything by Bob Dylan. Might be a good lyricist but he sucks at singing

Below quote is from the Waco siege. The song I remember them playing was "Achy Breaky Heart".
"The FBI won't discuss details of its playlist, like why a man who thinks he's Jesus would find Christmas carols unbearable (although maybe it has more to do with the ones chosen — the sing-along-with-Mitch Miller variety). Or why does Nancy Sinatra qualify instead of her far-more-cringeworthy brother, Frank Jr.? And why are Barry Manilow songs — according to one federal official involved in the siege negotiations — considered ''excessive force''?

Come on, in reality most of the rock songs we grew up with were overplayed SOOO MUCH at the time, any would do.

How about something screamed by Janis Joplin? Or then again, how about NOT!

Judy said...

Or then again.... there's always the Bonanza Christmas Album with all the Cartwrights on it...

Don't be dissin' on Janice. She's a goddess. However, I sprayed tea through my nose at the memory of the Bonanza Christmas album, so that may be the frontrunner for now.

And, Mark, are you going to nominate MacArthur Park for every song contest I dream up?

Mark said...

Mac Aurther Park qualifies for any song contest anytime. The words have meaning, of some sort, plus Harris was not only a bad singer he was a bad actor too. Why didn't he make the top 100 most influential people list? HUH?? Why not?
